So basically the Nexus-S supports a real serial port and a TTL serial port for talking to Orion SynScan, etc controllers. It doesn't support direct encoder connections for some reason!
The big thing is you only need to use one of these ports. So basically I could support direct, TTL and RS232 and via software connect the WiFi to one of those 3, perhaps via a 3 position switch or software config. There's no pass-thru or multi-connection necessary
