Our ALA colleagues recommend the addition of an verbatimEventDuration term.

KI notes that the extension already includes eco:eventDuration and eco:eventDurationUnit (#38, #39). It could be useful to add a ‘eco:verbatimEventDuration’ following the idea of the dwc:verbatimEventDate.

It is important here to note that the definition for dwc:verbatimEventDate is: 'The verbatim original representation of the date and time information for a dwc:Event but the examples only include date information' which is very broad and would appear to encompass what is being recommended in a verbatimEventDuration term. The question becomes this, do we (1) create a new ‘eco:verbatimEventDuration term, or (2) rather than adding a new term, expand the examples/comments for dwc:verbatimEventDate to include date and time ranges as would be applicable in a range of inventory scenarios?

I don't recall if we came to a definitive decision about whether or not a verbatimEventDuration term would be a useful addition to the vocabulary.

If it is to remain in consideration as an addition, the demand justification for a new term will have to be met as the Humboldt vocabulary is now in the maintenance state.
