backup apps

Apologies for posting this here, i did not find a support forum.
I'm a new user and I'd like to know if Timeshift also backups and recovers apps. I mean: when i restore a backup from Timeshift, will my apps also go back to the versions they were on at the time? And will apps that were installed in the meantime be removed?
I ask because it is clear to me that personal data (files etc) are not backuped, and that the OS IS backuped, but I'm not sure where apps fall in that division. Perhaps an idea to add that to your explanation pages?

Would be interesting to know, especially new linux users are overwhelmed by github, the linux world, command line / terminal and so on
