Q: Some of the symbols in my bar are rendered wrongly (e.g. as boxes), what is happening?

A: Likely, the font you have selected in the bar configuration doesn't contain all of the required fonts. Try to use a font that includes all glyphs (such as Inconsolata) or specify FontAwesome as fallback (e.g. font pango:DejaVu Sans Mono, FontAwesome 11).
