Description:

I have been using Teddycloud for a long time, and the content of the Tonies is located under "Content." My daughter wants to transfer the content from Tonie A to Tonie B. Unfortunately, this is not currently possible because, due to an older version, the content is only found under "Content" for me.

Question: Is there a way (even if it requires manual steps) to convert content to the library? Will it also be possible to do this through the GUI in the future?

Please check the little truck in the content view for each of your tags.

Needing to double-click to "access the directory" is not intuitive.
It was easier in the old web GUI, but there is that option not available.

Would say that is a default in many file explorers?

It's not very clear that this is intended to function like a file explorer. If, for example, the name were displayed as a hyperlink or if the mouse cursor changed to a pointer, it would be more intuitive. Once you know, it's clear, but for new users, it's not immediately obvious.

Another improvement could be to add a folder icon under "Actions" to make this functionality clearer.

I also don’t understand why files need to be moved to the "library" separately. The file is only appended with a ".taf" extension and isn’t actually modified. So why does it need to be moved at all? A symlink would work just as well.

I have two Tonieboxes and prefer to keep the Content folder as a direct mirror of the SD card. When files are moved, this structure is no longer maintained.

Additionally, "Cache content" and "Cache to library" are confusing. If "Cache to library" is also active, the file isn’t placed in the Content folder anymore but goes directly into the library instead.

Library is what the name said. A library. Where all your content is stored, even that what’s currently not assigned to a tonie. Only files in library can be assigned to any Tonies/tag.

The content is a representation of the content of your toniebox as you already mentioned but without the actual taf files.

Cache content and cache to library are two different things. If you don’t want to use the library, just disable cache to library. If you don’t want to cache anything at all, then also disable cache content.

There might be some explanation in future what setting means what. Feel free to start a list in the forum or add it directly in the teddycloud_web repository. As this is a project done by volunteers and time is not a endless thing, not everything can be done as soon as everybody wants ;)

I will adapt the cursor to a pointer in directory rows if possible.

I understand, and it wasn’t my intention to criticize. That’s why I suggested ideas for possible improvements. I also didn’t want to waste anyone’s time.

i added the default cursor on directories. a directory is also marked by [ ] and

in the size column. There is (currently) no nice way to display it more folder like, but I will try sometimes to find a solution. (I didn't like the "textual" design for folder currently also not)

There is now a help button with some explanations. You can have a look in the current develop version
