Subject: Why NEOmutt?

Was gibt es Neues?
mutt gibt es seit 1996 - und neomutt seit 2016.
neomutt wollte die vielen Patches integrieren.
Es bildet nun die Grundlage für weiteren Fortschritt.
Die vielen Änderungen machen es nun zu einem "fork".
Aber Neomutt will weiterhin alle Änderungen
"upstream" an mutt weitergeben.

What's new in neomutt?
mutt has been about since 1996 - and neomutt since 2016.
neomutt started as yet another patch set (just like mutt-ng),
but the many changes already made make it a fork by now.
the main change is that there is finally progress in some directions.
however, neomutt will incorporate all changes to mutt as well.
dev: mutt is still evolving, and neomutt is adopting all its changes.
code: neomutt has refactored a lot and beautified the code.
fork: there are relatively few people reading mail in a terminal.
the split does not help either that much.

what is ne[ow]?
Caveat: no groupware integration
aber: command line tool! -> script!
document viewer: keine internen Anzeigeprogramme
für Bilder (gif,jpg,png) oder Dokumente (doc,odt,pdf).
aber: konfiguration von Konverterprogramme
über ~/mailcap: cacaview,pdftotext
converters: antiword, cacaview, odt2txt,
pdftotext, rtfreader, unrtf, xls2csv
webbrowsers: elinks, lynx, w3m
es gibt einen windows port für cygwin, aber ich habe
diesen bisher aber noch nicht gesehen (i dont do windows)
the IMAP experience: "nunja" o_O
es gibt zB keine *übersicht* zur aktuellen Persona
Scope: neomutt shows only *one* folder at a time.
workaround: use multiple instances (in screen,tmux)

Subject: THE END
Wenn man eine Datei editiert und die Option "modeline" gesetzt ist,
dann werden N Zeilen ($modelines) am Anfang und Ende der Datei nach
"modelines" überprüft und die darin befindlichen Kommandos ausgeführt.
Damit kann man die Konfiguration für ein bessere Editieren anpassen.
When you edit a file with vim and its last line starts
with "vim:" then vim will execute the command therein
(when "modeline" and "modelines" are set). It is
a way to adjust the config for a better editing.
