As I understand, DatePicker's default value format is uncontrollable as the behaviour is defined in this way in the HTML spec. Are there any possible workarounds and are they being discussed? Or will default value remain uncontrollable? |

Technically, the default behavior of the DatePicker's value being uncontrollable is indeed due to how HTML specifies it. However, there's a workaround mentioned in the documentation where you can control the maximum value allowed in the DatePicker by setting the As for discussions on making the default value controllable or implementing workarounds, the documentation does mention the possibility of adding a default maximum value as a small improvement in the future when time permits. So, it seems there is an openness to addressing this issue, but no specific plans or timelines are provided. Hi @atshaas & @ssonajalg ,
Thank you for providing the additional details. Unfortunately, the formatting limitations you’re experiencing are due to the inherent behavior of the underlying browser element. It’s designed to adapt to the OS native locale of each user, ensuring the most comprehensible display across diverse regions.
However, we recognize the challenges this dynamic formatting presents for data consistency. To address this, we offer the
formatReturnDate()
function, which you can use to standardize the date format for your system.I hope this explanation and guidance helps! Let me know if you have further concerns or questions.
