It will be great if there will be a possibility to enable usage of SSL, upload client certificate and key for authenticating the ispindel, and root CA for authenticating MQTT broker.

This would need to be redesigned to use esp32 to enable SSL so I'd say it is not likely to happen

There are some minimal implementations of SSL in other esp8266 projects. But you are right, adding it may lead to major refactor just to free resources.
