Ubuntu guests | macOs Ventura hosts | arm64/x64 | - UTM 4.3.5 - why so unstable? #5552
-
Anyone running Ubuntu (22.04 or lunar 23.04) on UTM 4.3.5 MacOS Ventura? I keep running into random 200-300% CPU utilization across my Macs killing all my orchestration processes. Happens out of nowhere, even with no workloads on the VMs. Both on ARM Ubuntu and x64 Ubuntu. Just so unstable overall, boggles one’s mind. In addition, running headless even with no GPU and serial TTY console, now out of nowhere says TTY port inactive on UI. Why on earth is this so unstable? I am running virtio disks. Using hypervisor, no emulation. Is it the macOS hypervisor? Is it QEMU on macOS just shit? I have 3 different Ventura systems doing the same thing, one arm, two x64. For weeks now I have been trying to grapple the issues but no avail. I have looked at the exported debug logs nothing really sticks out. Anyone else having issues like these? |

...turned out to be NIC emulation issue, overwhelming the VM instance into exhaustion. Switching from virtio-net-pci to intel e1000e corrected this on arm64 Ubuntu - just in case this helps anybody... |
