I tried to upload a new add-on, and it failed because there was another add-on with the same name (and different hyphenation).

Although accurate, the error message is misleading because my component doesn't exist (the existing add-on isn't mine, and I read that error message as if I were trying to update an add-on that I have already uploaded).

As an add-on author who can't put two and two together
I want the system to provide a clear and accurate error message,
so that I understand that the conflict may be due to a component with the same name already existing, even if it’s not mine.
