New posts are showing the wrong image on facebook, Is this something with how facebook caches pages or could it be something else?

Background Info: The user uses his "blog" as a way to post things to facebook. That way he can have the content in both places. So, he will create a post, proof it, and post it to facebook right away and has been having issues with the facebook post having the wrong image.

The issue is only there when it gets sent to facebook right away, if we go back and tell it to send the post to facebook again it will have the correct image.

I think that if page URL is shared on Facebook by someone before, Facebook will grab the OpenGraph image or first image in page as the publication cover. You can check and purge the Facebook sharing data here: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

They were actually brand new pages that had just been made. We've actually stopped using the plugin because we couldn't get it working. Thanks though!

I know this is an old post, but it first guess, I would say this sounds like a caching issue with Facebook. I imagine by the 'wrong' image, it would be the main, default OpenGraph image for the site?

I can certainly investigate what, if anything can be done here.

It seemed more like a caching issue with the plugin than with Facebook. It's been a while since it happened so I don't remember all the details. But each post was a new url which meant Facebook would be scraping that url for the first time. I don't think Facebook should've had a cached image for that page at all if anything it would have had no image. I haven't used the plugin since March of 2017, so things may have changed since then. Thanks for the reply though!
