Can't punch the rock in the tutorial map #39
Comments
I believe you have to punch harder. You can tweak the velocity threshold required for a swing to register as a melee attack in "Quake VR Settings" -> "Melee Settings". Let me know if that works. |
The punching isn't really based on physics or anything, understandably, so the rock will appear to be distant; You just have to trigger the punching action by punching with more force. Try punching the air a couple times in the open area until you hear the "whoosh" sound played from a successful character punch action, then walk over to the rock and attempt. |
I dropped the setting to about 4.5 and was able to make contact, albeit at a bit of a distance. I guess the Quake guy has a bit of a porky bounding box and there's not much to be done about that without breaking classic map support. Still, it might be a good idea to drop the health on those rocks so they break in like 2/3 hits because it was quite a slog getting through them. I would also suggest increasing the throw velocity because I couldn't get enough range to hit any of the targets in the following section. |

Weird, I use the Index as well and had no problem dealing with the rocks with the default settings... |

+1 here, it's a bit annoying that when I try to get closer to the rock I get pushed back, so I can't actually reach it with my fists. Not sure how difficult it is, but would be nice to reduce the collision box of the player's head maybe. I'm using Oculus Quest 1 with Virtual Desktop. |
The rock is too far away to reach, but when I reach/move towards it I get pushed away. Axes/fists also don't seem to collide whenever I swing to do damage, but maybe I'm missing some button I need to push to make this happen?
