There are tests missing for smpte timecodes at known DropFrame (DF) and NonDropFrame (NDF) FPS'es:

  • 29.97fps or 59.94i (59.94 interlaced) - for TV broadcast
  • 30/60/120 fps
  • 23.976 (sometimes called 23.98) - telecine format with counterintuitive timecode to media time conversion

The IMSC Recommendation does not support SMPTE timecode labels, i.e. ttp:timeBase="smpte" is prohibited. Do you have a sample available?

FYI, this was not an omission, but intentional. Video frame level sync between video and text is not a requirement today (not to mention the complexity of managing continuity of SMPTE time labels). There is also no requirement that SMPTE time code have any particular epoch.
