Prepopulate the Date Range when first loading the app in the browser. This suggestion comes from here.
Some first-time users might think that the app looks broken when they see empty spaces where the charts and graphs would be displayed.

On the query page I would only use a range of a day or so. Not great to send the user potentially a lot of data which they might not care about.
On the statistics page it can be the current month or so.
