Pimp My Cause

Pimp My Cause connects marketers, researchers, and innovators who wish to volunteer to good causes in need of innovative solutions. The organisation has successfully matchmade over 1,300 charities and volunteers since its inception in 2011.

WHFNP volunteers are tackling a website rebuild project for this charity to modernise the technology stack and improve the site's user experience. Using Python, Django and Heroku the end goal is to leave Pimp My Cause with a slick new website that is robust, sustainable, and capable of supporting the growth in its membership expected over the next few years.

Jaspals Voice

Susan Graham was inspired to create Jaspal's Voice after her sister contracted Motor Neurone Disease and subsequently lost her voice to the disease. Jaspal's Voice aims to collate and review communication devices for those suffering from MND, by providing a catalogue of devices with user-generated reviews and tips.

Volunteers built the first version of the Jaspal's Voice website in a few short weeks, using Java, the Play framework, and Amazon Web Services. The team has also been hard at work on an Android app (soon to be launched) that will provide an easy means of communication and education for people afflicted with or interested in learning more about the disease.

Women Hack For Non-Profits

We recently completed an overhaul of our original website in line with our rebrand, using modern tools and standards to create an engaging and responsive user experience.

We are currently working on powering it by a custom CMS and as a future phase, integrate it with an API that provides data surrounding our volunteers and non-profits.

We Meet Django App

This is volunteer idea to create a web app that will display and allow searching of curated cafes places that are team friendly to go and spend some time hacking together on a project.

The user can come to the website and search bases on London postcode/locations to find a curated list of cafes matching that criteria. The cafes should be shown on a map as well. Each cafe will be handpicked and “features” ranked like wifi signal, how great is the coffee/food and space etc.

SEO London

Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (‘SEO’) London supports talented students from BME or underprivileged backgrounds to succeed in leading professional industries through our alumni-driven model of training, coaching, mentoring and networking support.

In 2015 the SEO Careers Programme helped over 900 university students gain internships and graduate roles with our 60+ partner firms in the investment banking, consulting, creatives, corporates and engineering industries. The SEO Scholars Programme provided 750 gifted secondary school students from low income families with a range of support services to improve their academic attainment and progression to university and careers. The SEO Connect platform provides SEO Careers alumni with job opportunities as they progress their careers.

We would like help creating a new website that will be up by 16 September to help with university student signups. We have some developers on board, but we are looking for a project manager and help in the following areas:

• Wireframes • UX • Branding • Digital marketing • Photographers

Erehwon

Erehwon is an on-going project that explores the design and development of a prototype on-line collaborative platform as a tool for connecting people involved in socio-political interventions, building communities of interest, and enabling and empowering civic engagement in socio-political activities in public spaces. Initially conceived as a tool for mapping socio-political performative projects in Europe and beyond, it became an investigation on the design of cartography-based online tools that provide efficient and usable ways to share and exchange methods, values and practices, beyond spatial territories and physical borders.

The project was created in Django and is looking for volunteers to help finish it off.
