Since I already had MKS TMC2208 v2.0 stepper drivers in my spare parts drawer, I chose the MKS Robin Nano v3.1 which I found for 25€ at AliEx.

The following picture shows the stock mainboard on the left and the MKS board on the right.

The following picture shows the MKS being assembled and mounted vertically (mind the 90° angled USB-B cable at the left side). The 'creative mess' with the pretty much unorganized wirings is due to the fact that I chose the length of the adapter cable's wiring slightly too short - if those would've been a bit longer, I would have been able to organize everything much better - so maybe keep that in mind if you're going for the same solution.
