File Details
This view is part of the Files plugin and displayed when clicked on a file in one of the file tabs inside the Files tab in the tab bar. It consists of two panes. A left pane and a right pane
On the left-hand side is the presentation pane, which displays the file or a download link, if the file format is not supported by Spacialist.
Some formats feature a fullscreen mode. To active it, click on the icon in the upper right corner. To exit it, hit ESC
.
At the bottom are two buttons to quickly switch between files. It is also possible to use the arrow keys (left and right) as shortcuts.
On the right-hand side is a tab bar, which is again divided in two parts.
This tab displays general information about the file.
- Properties: A copyright and description can be added/edited. To edit the content, click on the three-dot menu and click on Edit. An input field and two buttons appear. Enter or delete the content and click on the green button to submit the changes or the red one to discard the changes.
- Metadata: Displays metadata of the file such as file size and creation and modification dates. At the bottom of the metadata section are two buttons to replace or download a file. Replacing is described in the next section in more detail. Downloading is performed by clicking on the Download button.
This option is helpful if the content of a file has changed. Re-Uploading a file would require re-linking and re-entering all other information (tags, properties). Replacing a file keeps all this information and only updates the content of a file. It is also possible (but not recommended) to replace a file with a completely different file of another type.
To replace a file, click on the Replace button in the Metadata section and select your desired file in the file chooser popup. Once selected, the Replace button is replaced by some information about the old and the new file. If the file type is different a warning is displayed as well. Click on the green Replace button to confirm the replace process or on the red Cancel button to dismiss.
At the top is a list with all entities linked to this file. If there are none, an info is displayed instead. You can either link the file to the current selected entity using the Link to <Entityname>
button or use the search bar at the bottom (Link to further entities) to link one file with several entities using the search bar without selecting each of the entities.
To unlink an entity from the file, click on the x next to name of the entity in the list.
