Data Delivery Pilot Feedback

Thank you for participating in our pilot effort to deliver data sets from GCB cores to researchers. We are committed to supporting the GCB core facilities and encouraging best practices for data stewardship among the Duke research community. Your feedback to shape this process will be incredibly valuable, so we appreciate your participation.

As the core facility produces and uploads your data set, you will receive emails from our system, notifying you of the state of your data and prompting you to take action on it.

We ask that you record your experiences at each stage and provide timely feedback on how the process works for you. All feedback is welcome, but we do have a few key questions that we're targeting. Please reply to this email with your answers to the below:

Task 1: Background

  1. What is your familiarity with the core facility? Have you worked with them before?
  2. What is your familiarity with Duke Data Service? Have you used it before this project?
  3. What is your familiarity with other data distribution systems (e.g. FTP/Owncloud/Express)?

Task 2: Previewing your data

You will receive an email that your data is ready for review, with information on how to access it. Regarding this email and step:

  1. Were there any technical issues with the process?
  2. Is it clear how to access your data?
  3. Is it clear what state the data is in? (e.g. is it finalized? Who is responsible for this copy of the data?)
  4. Is it clear what, if anything, you are expected to do next and under what time frame?
  5. Do you have any additional feedback on this step?

Task 3: Accepting your data

You will receive an email that your data is ready for delivery, with information on how to accept or decline that delivery. Regarding this email and step:

  1. Were there any technical issues with the process?
  2. Is it clear how to accept or decline your data?
  3. Is it clear why you would choose accept or decline?
  4. After taking action, is it clear what state the data is in? (e.g. is it finalized? Who is responsible for this copy of the data?)
  5. Is it clear what, if anything, you are expected to do next and under what time frame?
  6. Do you have any additional feedback on this step?
