- you'll need to set up pulseaudio as a systemwide service -> https://possiblelossofprecision.net/?p=1956
- the user pi needs to have access to audio and gpio
sudo usermod -a -G audio,pulse,pulse-access,gpio pi
- If you don't want to use the Google Voice Kit raspi image, you can alternatively download and flash e.g. the Raspbian stretch and manually install the necessary dependencies
- Raspbian stretch: https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_full_latest
- Log on to Raspbian and issue this to install pulseaudio 'sudo apt-get install pulseaudio'
