Check to see if main.dic is in your /home/<user>/.palaver.d folder. If not, copy to that folder. I found that I still have to either copy the commands I wanted from main.dic into my personal.dic. If you have no personal/custom commands, you could simply rename main.dic > personal.dic in the .palaver.d folder. This worked for Linux Mint 15 and I suspect any other GNU/Debian derivatives.
To View Hidden Folders (i.e. any files that starts with a ‘.’) on many Linux distros:

If you are using something like Caja (default file explorer on Linux Mint 15) or Nautilus (Ubuntu) and you can hit ctl+h to show Hidden folders. Or just see if you can just click on “view -> show hidden files” within your file manager.
