This project (DutyRoster) will automate the Department of the Army (DA) Form 6 (Duty Roster)
which is utilized on all levels of command, and in all types of units and organizations. It will give leaders a
set of powerful tools which can be used to quickly create and modify unit duty rosters in accordance
with the rules outlined in Army Regulation (AR) 220-45 to guarantee that soldiers are being assigned to
specific duties fairly and accurately.

The DA Form 6 is a priority sequence numbering process that is very tedious and time
consuming, and often prone to human errors. The AR 220-45 requires commanders to maintain a
separate DA Form 6 for each recurring, or shiftwork, duty that is manned by personnel under their
command. In situations where a person must be on more than one duty roster, human error usually
leads to individuals being assigned to more than one duty at the same time. Large duty rosters with a
greater number of personnel can become so difficult to manage, that commanders may end up being
forced to use an unfair and inadequate system to assign duty, which could be inconsistent with
regulation.

No matter how large, or how many duty rosters are necessary, the DutyRoster6 will turn the
cumbersome and error prone process of making duty rosters into a simple and easy to use system. This
project will reduce the time spent on redundant paperwork and increase time for commanders to lead.
