hyperMUSIC

Rebooting music distribution for the 21st century.

hyperMUSIC is a set of standards, tools, and workflows for online music distribution, favoring a decentralized and full-ownership approach.

Background

Recorded music has changed.

hyperMUSIC is an effort to acknowledge, embrace, and cater to that change.

Many novel and exciting musical opportunities have been brought about by the modern web, free and open source software, and advancements in consumer media hardware. hyperMUSIC seeks to define a decentralized approach to publishing, distributing, and monetizing musical compositions and performances, optimizing for different kinds of values than the ones more commonly pursued by the music industry. The goal of these activities is to produce a second approach to recorded music, one which exists alongside more traditional methods.

We do not seek to disrupt recorded music.

We simply wish to broaden the craft of music distribution and fan engagement, so that it may provide value to musicians typically left behind in today's music business.
