6. Final assembly
To prepare the top plate for assembly, you need to remove the breakaway parts and clean up the remaining jagged edges.
First use a flat screwdriver to pry on the part, breaking the tabs. Ideally you should do this from the backside to avoid scratches.
Then use a small file an/or an exacto knife to clean up the remains of the tabs. Keep in mind that you will likely need to adjust the holes for a good fit on your switches.
To avoid damaging the hot-swap sockets, it’s recommended to support the socket on the backside as you insert the switches. To do this, mount the spacers to the front plate, place the PCB in place and start inserting switches.
Finish off by bolting in the bottom plate. If you are planning to tent/tilt, figure out what combination of bolts and nuts works for you. (The holes in the tabs are ?? size.) if you aren’t using tent/tilt, add some rubber feet/pads on the bottom to avoid sliding and the keyboard are assembled.
Add keycaps, rotary encoder wheels and styled TRRS/USB wires to your hearts content. Should be self explanatory.
