Javadocs

NetCDF-Java began its life around Java version 0.8, that is, before Java itself had a stable release in 1996. Over the years the priority was to deliver functionality, and the API has developed without a clear delineation between public API and private implementation. Because of the current unclear landscape, getting the API "right" in terms of base functionality that users have grown to expect is going to be pretty difficult, but is very much needed if we want netCDF-Java to be useful for another generation. Getting it right will rely heavily on your feedback!

Currently, the netCDF-Java 5.4 javadocs provides a first pass view of the public API. As you migrate to the new API, please let us know of holes you encounter in the javadoc descriptions by opening an issue.
