## History

<!-- Include a history of how the group started if you'd like -->

Feelings Friday was initiated at the Flatiron School coding boot camp by its founders, Avi Flombaum and Adam Enbar, after they observed burnout among their first cohorts. During his time at Flatiron, Ethan attended various Feelings Friday. He loved that after an exhausting week, there was a recurring Friday meeting to sit with his peers and just talk, vent, and share their feelings about anything. Since joining the Virtual Coffee community, he wanted to bring that same open space online and thus started the Feelings Friday group, providing a virtual safe space for Virtual Coffee members to share their feelings on Friday evenings.
## Host Duties

<!-- What is required of the host to successfully run a Feelings Friday meeting? Include a script, links, resources, etc. here. -->

### General Itinerary
#### Greeting Attendees: 8:00 - 8:05 PM ET
- Greet members as they join the room.
- Example: "Hello [INSERT NAME HERE], welcome to Feelings Friday."
- Ask if it's their first time here. If so give a brief description explaining what Feelings Friday event is about.
- Example: "Feelings Friday was started at the Flatiron School coding boot camp by its founders, after they observed burnout among their first cohorts. They designed Feelings Friday to be an open safe space where folks could gather to share whatever is on their mind this week. With whatever is said in the room stays in the room."
- Provide links to mental health and wellness resources in the group chat.

#### Setup group chat: 8:05 - 8:10 PM ET
- Paste in the group chat the *wellness check-up group questions*. These question serve as ice breakers to get the conversation going.
- What's on your mind this week?
- How was your week?
- How do you feel about work?
- Paste in the group chat *participant prefer method of communication and support*. Various types of participants attend Feelings Friday. So Ethan created this zoom reaction menu to help participants know what type of support they are seeking from others in the group.
- You can use the zoom reaction tab to communicate.
- (speed-up) - I’m going through a lot right now to explain, so I just need some good vibes and virtual hugs for support.
- (slow-down) - Thinking out loud / vent my feeling in an open space, but not seeking advise.
- (green checkmark) - Thinking out loud / vent my feeling in an open space, and I'm seeking advise.
- Ask if any attendant want to volunteer to go first. If not go in alphabetical order.

#### Feeling Fridays: 8:10 - 8:58 PM ET
- For each participant turn. The host will
- Ask all other participants to mute while the speaker is speaking.
- Ask the speaker if they would like to answer the wellness check-up group questions located in the group chat or if they have a topic in mind to share.
- Ask the speaker to select from the zoom reaction tab how they wish the group to communicate with them after they are done sharing their feelings.

#### Ending the session: 8:58 - 9:00 PM ET
- Thank all the participants that showed up to the event and for sharing their feelings with the group.
- Example: Thank you all for coming to this session of Feeling Friday. Thank you for sharing your feelings and remember whatever is said in this room stays in this room. I hope to see you all in the next one. Until then take care and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Later.

### Lateness/Abesenteeism
Be sure to arrive to the meeting on time. If you can't make a meeting, or you'll be running late, check in with your Co-host to make sure they'll be present. If you both have a conflict, drop a message in the #vc-accountabilibuddies-hosts Slack channel to see if any of the other Hosts can cover for you. If not, Meg will cancel the meeting.
