Use all the format! Just added all the formats of nanoemoji to build_ttf.nu and built them all too. Enjoy!
Built font file names changed, they follow nanoemoji format text like cff2_colr_0 makes MutantStandardEmoji-CFF2-COLR-0.ttf.
(glyf is clearly not intended for color emoji 😁)

My recommendation:

  • CBDT and SBIX formats are good in firefox (and mostly in wezterm too) on my linux machine
  • COLR is somewhat supported but not all emoji work
  • other SVG fonts generally didn't work or looked weird when I tested them...
  • GLYF is fun when you want someone to guess the emoji from the outline (its all filled with a single color 😁)
  • I have just a little bit of clue about what any of these are, play around and find out if it works...

Many formats exist for building a font, many of the interesting ones have support in nanoemoji. Now the build script knows a few more formats too.
According to my tests, CBDT and SBIX works best in firefox on linux. COLR fonts (sadly) have issues with not all symbols working in firefox or not combining.
Opentype SVG (including Raw) don't seem to combine well and have white outline in firefox which is weird.
(the last release's font is equivalent to COLR-GLYF here)

Font family renamed: Mutant Standard => Mutant Standard Emoji (like it used to be)

It seems like a colr_v1 ttf font can be built from Mutant Standard emoji.
