Patreon and Kickstarters
This is a major work in progress, mostly just writing down thoughts.
Right now I'm intentionally not including Patreon and Kickstarter models since the model they're sold in is generally vastly different from every other site. I'm not against creating something entirely build specifically for Kickstarters and Patreons, but it should be specced with a very specific direction in mind.
Every creator that has Minis in the index should have a Patreon link if possible. However, indexing from Patreon is an extremely weird problem. There's a vast number of ways to use Patreon that it doesn't seem like there's a clear way to use Patreon posts as a source.
Many creators have a "starter pack" available of a couple dozen models that every patron gets immediate access to. This would be indexable, but it's rarely a post per model in the starter pack, or the starter pack has a single post and the contents are varied.
Some creators (Valandar) have a very simple model for their patron model access. Every patron gets access to every model. This works well enough for indexing, since it's pretty straightforward that being a patron gets access to all these models.
This is the most common model where everyone who is a patron for a give month gets access to a set of models that are available only for that month. After that month, the creator posts them to some other site like Gumroad. This is difficult to tackle due to the timebound nature. We'd need someone to really micromanage what's available when.
Kickstarters would be really hard to support in our current model. Given users can't just click a model, hit download or buy, then get the model, I'm not too keen on adding support for Kickstarters. If someone really wants to go sign-up to maintain the list, it'd definitely be valuable to consider, but it needs a lot of curation to be more useful than something like MakerFun3d's list - https://makerfun3d.com/3d-printable-terrain-miniature-kickstarters-january-2020
