which is resulted an empty string for GIT_TAG. The 'HEAD' is not needed for 'git describe --tags --dirty' at the end.

622 days later... Changes introducing machine specific attributes feel out-of-scope. Not saying they wouldn't be useful, but they would be better suited to a different CMake module (e.g. something fancy like Now the tag change - that sounds useful. Would you mind if I merged just that change into master? |

pls add a handle to the remote labeled 'origin''s URL, maybe even all of them and both push and pull URLs for each if wanting to be exhaustive. |

Printing git tag info is useful so we might add this also.
