Project Highlights

Gate23 is a Decentralized Point of Sale (DPOS) and business software designed for the Food & Beverage (F&B), e-commerce, and retail industries. Built on the Internet Computer (ICP), Gate23 integrates web2 business models with web3 ecosystems, offering a seamless experience for merchants.

Web3 Advantages

  • Web2 Limitations: Traditional platforms like Shopify, Amazon, and Stripe often result in data ownership issues where providers hold the data and merchants pay for its analysis and promotion.
  • Gate23 Solution: We enhance trust and relationships by storing data on-chain and tokenizing products and transactions, which we refer to as "proof of purchase."

How It’s Built

  • Cross-Chain Functionality: Implemented authorization with Internet Identity/NFID for merchant registration and product tokenization on the Base chain using NFTs.
  • Data Storage: Utilizing Juno.Console for store merchants’ data.
  • Technologies Used:
    • Languages: Rust, Motoko
    • Frameworks: Vue.js, Juno, Quasar Framework
    • Tools and Libraries: Vite, Pinia, Tailwind CSS

The Internet Computer's high throughput, low transaction costs, and reverse-gas model are crucial for Gate23. These features enable efficient and secure transaction data handling, fostering trust among users and merchants.

Status of the Project

  • Current Phase: MVP development https://forum.dfinity.org/t/gate23-showcase-by-bridge23-team/33872
  • Milestones Achieved: Completed the second milestone of the developer grant for cross-chain implementation and won the ETH Seoul hackathon in the "Cross-chain track."
  • Ongoing Work: Adding ledger and payment functionalities, refining user interface.

Future Plans

  • Real-Time Payments: Support for ckTokens (USDC, BTC, ETH) with real-time fiat exchange rates.
  • Enhanced Categorization: Improved shop and collection creation.
  • Smart Contracts: Additional smart cross-chain contracts.
  • Stripe API Integration: For fiat payments.
  • Partnerships: Collaboration with AlphaPoint, RedotPay.
