Globus Connect Personal

Globus Connect Personal (GCP) is a Globus application that you can run on your laptop which allows you to create a Globus Endpoint on your laptop so that you can transfer files between your laptop and another Globus endpoint (e.g. COSMIC² gateway). There is a Globus Connect Server which allows multiple users to use the same endpoint. Note, you can install GCP on a server but the endpoint cannot be used by more than 1 user; this is not a recommended installation since to allow multiple users to use the same endpoint, the Globus identity must be shared...a security no-no!

To install GCP:

1. Download software for your laptop
2. Follow the instructions for your operating system

To use GCP with COSMIC²:

1. Start GCP
2. Login to COSMIC2 Gateway
3. Create a folder (if needed)
4. Go to the folder's "Data" sub-folder
5. Click on "Upload Data via Globus"
6. A new page appears and you should be able to select or see your endpoints
7. Make sure your source and destination endpoints are appropriate
8. Select the files and/or directories that you want to transfer
9. Click on the "Transfer" button at the bottom
10. You can now logout or do something else in the gateway
11. When transfer is completed (or if there is a problem), Globus will email you.
