The starter uses uv. To quickly bootstrap an environment.

If you have used this setup guide before, you can jump to the final step to create your virtualenv and install dependencies:

Install uv: https://docs.astral.sh/uv/

curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh

Install ruff and pre-commit:

uv tool install ruff
uv tool install pre-commit

Make sure these are on your PATH:

export PATH=$PATH:~/.cargo/bin
export PATH=$PATH:~/.local/bin

Add this to your shell configuration to make running management commands much shorter:

alias uvm="uv run python manage.py"

Create the virtualenv and install dependencies:

uv venv
uv sync
