Add logging to track failures from messenger end

It is hard to figure what goes wrong in the event of bad input. Logging responses is handy for debugging.

But it's supposed to return the results which is the response, right?

Edit: You're right, it only returns on success (I think? I'll need to check again). I'll add a check or errors to facilitate this.
