x ARCHIVE: Hardware_Electronics Box (v2)
The second generation of the electronics box relies on bluetooth smart communication to the tablet instead of receiving signals from the tablet's audio. This wireless solution was implemented in collaboration with S. Ohayon in the DiCarlo group. We used the RedBearLabs Blenano for the controller. This can be piggybacked on the first generation electronics box (photo below) or if you are starting from scratch, you can make a small, simple box that just has a pump out + prime switch especially if you don't need the functionality (audio input, photodiode input) of the first generation box. If you want a more flexible setup, we recommend going with the larger Sparkfun board built around the nRF52832 chip or the [arduino primo] (http://www.arduino.org/products/boards/arduino-primo) (available in 2017) which have more breakouts.
