Brief Introduction to GitHub

This repository has the code and data files necessary for the Introduction to GitHub Workshop on May 2, 2017, at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at UCSB. The objective is to get exposure to and practice with GitHub.

View the presentation rendered as a .html, a pdf or the .Rmd source code.

Before the workshop, complete the following steps. For detailed instruction, refer to the Initial Setup section of Hadley Wickham's book, Karl Broman's tutorial or the instructions in our Ocean Health Index Manual.

  1. Create a GitHub account
  2. Download and install git software, set up your git identity
  3. Set up the GitHub interface in RStudio
