API docs not rendering

Seems like the API docs aren't rendering, I'm pretty sure these used to render until recently?

Thanks for letting me know; I'll have to dig out my credentials to that to see if I can find the error messages, to correct it.

A few more minor diffs after #1279 , this is now fixed in the "dev" docs for RTD and will roll out to the main docs for the projet with our next release.
