I find it endlessly annoying when I click on a thumbnail to get a close up view of an image, and I have to click through several intermediate pages before I actually get a larger image. The flow is now perfect (in my humble opinion): after one click, the image fills the entire page, you can flick to the next image in the category and the image details are still linked.

I've added links to the iCal feed to the events page, hopefully in a way that people can subscribe (instead of simply importing) easily.
I also made improvements to the photo gallery on the event page.
@samwilson I've requested your review because I have made a bunch of visual changes on a whim, so I wanted to give you a chance to see them split into commits in case you have any feelings about them :)
