Output

Option 1

Variables affecting carbon footprint possible to calculate: Household (electricity, natural gas, oil, coal, propane); Flights (hours, distance, via other destination); Car & Motorbike (mileage, EU/US car database); Bul & Rail (bus, coach, local/commuter train, tram, subway, taxi); Secondary carbon footprint (Food & drink products, pharmaceuticals, clothes/textiles, computers & IT, television/radio, motor vehicles, furniture, hotels/restaurants, recreational/sport activities).

Start with a few questions in a form :

  • Travel e.g. “how many flights do you take a year?”
  • Consumption e.g.“how much meat do you eat?”

  • Could also have comparison of your own average/average pp of your country/average pp worldwide and worldwide target?

Option 2

  • Getting information from flightradar24.com to produce an AR program whereby when you point to the sky with your phone, within a certain set range, airplane(s) will appear.
  • Airplane will then show live data of how far it has travelled and translate that into its carbon footprint and the amount of trees that have been damaged/used by the plane at that given time.
  • Possibility to click on the data of a plane and redirected to another page/stay on page where shows you a visual of all of the trees.

Decision

We decided on Option 1, since there already existed a project/app similar to Option 2, and Option 1 seemed more independent from flight schedules.

Nice to have modeling:

  • Define workflow for exporting model with ambient occlusion to obj, mtl, texture map. [done]
