Description: Analyzed a comprehensive dataset of nearly 7.8 million accident records from 49 states of the United States to gain insights. This project is aimed to understand accident patterns, identify high risk areas, assess accident severity, public awareness and education. The accident data was collected from February 2016 to March 2023.
Key Achievements and Responsibilities:
- Cleaned and preprocessed the dataset to handle missing values and data quality issues to ensure the integrity of analysis.
- Conducted Exploratory Data Analysis to uncover the insights, including the distribution of accident severity levels and time trends.
- Performed feature selection and engineering to create variables like year, month, day, hour etc. and combined weather condition and visibility columns.
- Created informative charts and graphs to communicate the features of the data.
- Identified high risk areas in states.
- Performed descriptive statistical analysis to summarize and present the important features of the dataset.
