Haruto Nakano

Hard-working male lead. At heart, he is a hopeless romantic but has been neglecting his relationship due to his busy work life. He deeply respects Yuna and admires her patient personality, but he is also a mischievous character who likes to mess with her but in a playful manner of course.

Yuna Nakano

Caring and patient female lead. Just like the meaning of her name, Yuna is an extremely kind and caring individual. On top of that, she is extremely resilient and intelligent. Though she has been feeling down over not being able to spend much time with Haruto, she is extremely understanding and patient with him and respects how hard-working he is. She can get annoyed at times with Haruto’s teasing, but she teases him back just as good, if not better.

Ominous Man

Mysterious smartly dressed man – he cannot speak and the couple never learns of his name, his true identity is the deceased husband of their neighbour, it is uncertain how he ended up in limbo, but the perhaps his strong love for his widowed wife is enough to bring his spirit back in an attempt to save her life.

Osakabe

The girl hiding in the driver’s carriage. She is still confused and unaware of her own death, she just remembers entering limbo and having her parts of her spirit stolen from her. In her time in limbo, she is extremely knowledgeable about the other spirits there, all but the man in the suit. However, she is able to read a person’s heart and see their true desires and seems drawn to the smartly dressed man and approves of the main couple and is willing to help them, only if they return her “body parts” to her so she can peacefully pass on. She keeps her face hidden behind a mask. She provides the couple with advice, the couple can stumble across animal spirits holding explanations about other demons on the train.

“Osakabe Hime is a powerful and reclusive yōkai, capable of manipulating people like puppets. She is extremely knowledgeable about many things and controls a multitude of kenzokushin—animal-like spirits who act as messengers. She can read a person’s heart and see their true desires. She can then manipulate them any way she pleases. It is rumoured that anybody who sees her face will die instantly.”
