gpulib: try to reduce global reload

espacially bad on arm32 with -pie (which is on by default):
   text	   data	    bss	    dec	    hex	filename
   9904	      0	   4444	  14348	   380c	plugins/gpulib/gpu.o # before
   9128	      0	   4444	  13572	   3504	plugins/gpulib/gpu.o # after
