linux-unsandbox-browsers-cli

This shell script enables/disables browsers to run as root in Debian and Ubuntu distros by un-sandboxing/sandboxing them. This is not advisable. I built this for use temporarily in some situations. Running some apps in root is not secure.

This script supports the following browsers:

  1. Opera Desktop Browser.
  2. Google Chrome Browser.
  3. Firefox ESR Browser.
  4. Chromium Web Browser and
  5. Falkon KDE Browser.

To use this script:

  1. Click on code on this page.
  2. Click on Download Zip.
  3. A file named linux-unsandbox-browsers-cli-master.zip will be downloaded. Extract the zip file in your computer. You will see a folder labelled linux-unsandbox-browsers-cli-master. Navigate to that folder.
  4. Open terminal at the files location by right clicking and selecting Open in terminal. You can as well launch your terminal and navigate to where the downloaded file is.
  5. Type chmod +x linux-unsandbox-browsers-cli.sh and click on enter key to make the script executable.
  6. Type ./linux-unsandbox-browsers-cli.sh to run the script.
