Protein engineering relies greatly upon random mutagenesis. Many protocols commonly involved in random mutagenesis despite being decades old are dominated by uncertainly and are confusing to new experimenters. Consequently, using our knowledge base about mutagenesis, we have created a set of tools, called DirEvo Tools that unifies some previously existing tools (Mutanalyst, PedelAA etc.) into a single pipeline for use at different experimental stages, expands them and adds new functionality, such as mutation calling from sequencing of pooled samples, design of primer plates for mutation scanning or screening and quick quality control calculations.
