Obviously I did not look at the formatting used by your CMS, I just pasted this from my favorite markdown writer.
Proof reading may begin now. |

Thank you for the nice write up. I am looking forward to read it to the end.
I must admit I was not catched by the title because the term "pen and paper" does not echo with me. For that case the intro is quite long. Maybe interrupt it with an explanation? ... change the title ... What do you think?
I know the term "table top game" by the way.
Pen and Paper is a distinct class of table-top games which employ RPG and story-telling elements. I think its fine to talk about Pen&Paper here as there is not much reason to use mixxx with non-pen&paper games (such as monopoly, or "mensch ärgere dich nicht" ;). |
I deliberately used the term "Table Top Role Playing Games" in the first sentence after the introduction to give an explanation. Pen and Paper is the common abbreviation within the Community. I could add an RPG to the title for a bit more context... |

Okay, the draft now has everything I want to say. During the upcoming week I will do a proof read and then mark this as ready for review. |
There are two discussions for me right now:
|
Gone trough the Spelling, am as done as I think I can be atm. @daschuer go ahead and nick-pick if you like. :) |
Whenever its ready ;)
I'd say yes as long as they don't require a youtube music subscription. But thats only my personal opinion. |

Ok, done.
This is really interesting, thank you.
Can you please rename the file to XXXX-XX-XX-mixxing-up-pen-and-paper.md
The release date will then be added automatically.
As a new author, you need also add your avatar like it has been done here:

I highly recommend creating a playlist for each session and having some general purpose playlists to jump into when the players inevitably drift off. Themes for places or characters (both player and non-player) can also make a big difference and are not too difficult to keep track of.

However I think a dedicated app with a lot more creature comforts and a lot less DJ-specific features would be needed to make this useful for the average DM. But I think that is fine. Because everyone has their own secret sauce for spicing up their campaigns. And mine is music. |

I am not sure if I got the point, but maybe this sentence can be improved because the reader is likely already a Mixxx user. Let me try:
Sure, Mixxx's DJ-Ing features are probably overwhelming for an average DM. But once I was used to it, music has become my secret sauce for spicing up my campaigns.
The another aspect you may want to mention is that Mixxx is fully customizable because it is open source. So we may consider to hack up a Role Play skin, or add specific features. I am sure there are some overlaps with Radio DJs, another underrepresented user group among us contributors.

Hm. If it is really easy to customize, I would look into creating a dedicated RPG skin and then publish this blogpost. That would make it a lot more useful.
However there are a couple of must-have features for this that I right now have trouble imagining. For instance allowing users to share songs they sliced in some manner would make this a lot easier and that would need to be implemented and curated. Will halt releasing the blogpost until I looked into the theisability of creating a DM skin.

If it is really easy to customize
It could be much more easy though. You can make probably some minor adjustment with ease, but a full DM skin in release quality is a lot of work. A start could be a hand written moc-up or a copy and past screenshot that demonstates the desired changes. The best is to open a GitHub issues for it.

Do you mean to share a track along with Cue points and loops? We have that as an Experimental Serato Metadata synchronization. You may test it and report issues you find or features that are missing as another GitHub issue.

However: when planning a scene to follow the beat of a song, these will create some really spectacular moments. You just have to practice your timing and be a very confident Dungeon Master if you want to allow player interaction in the fixed time frame of a track.

Can you point the reader to sections in the track that demonstrates your statements? Maybe do the same with the other linked tracks as well if there is a point of particular interest.

Did you have trouble hearing out the features I highlighted when describing the different types of mixes?
For instance with this: the whole track just varies overall and is very specific to the visuals in the cut-scene (hence I liked a video)

I must admit yes, since the link to the track appears without any explanation.
When listening to the track I was not sure what exactly you mean.

Such a statement would be helpful.
Can you also take care to the pre-commit complains? Thank you. |
I looked into the error log twice now with a bit of time in-between and I do not really understand the issue ._. |

Moving the youtube-disclaimer to the top of the article and phrasing it more euphemistic.

Probably because most of the complaints are whitespace-related. |
Hi! Thank you for writing this up. Sorry everyone else for the surprise, I invited betalars to write this post because I found their mixxx use-case super interesting and thought it would make a nice case study for the blog |
we might want to put a little note at the top like, "This post is the first in a series by users of Mixxx talking about the novel and creative ways they use the program" |

Most songs will have a brief intro, a thematically consistent main loop and a brief outro that sometimes just consists of the main loop fading out.
|
||
These always have been pretty easy to work with and require no more prep than finding loop in and loop out point. Bonus points for setting an intro and outro marker too. |

I would love to see screenshots of Mixxx for each of these techniques
As I was asked on mastodon to create a blog post about my usage of mixxx, I wanted to let you know I am working on it.
I suspect this is not the final place this is going to end up in, but I did not find a better place for it.
This is probably being discussed over on zulip
