Description

UnpackPyInstaller is a plugin for the 7-Zip file manager that allows users to unpack PyInstaller archives (.exe or .zip files) with ease. Please note that this is a beta version of the plugin; while it is functional, there may be bugs or incomplete features. Your feedback is appreciated as we continue to improve the utility.

Requirements

  • 7-Zip installed on your system.

Installation

  1. Download and install 7-Zip from 7-zip.org.

  2. Clone this repository or download the source code files:

    git clone https://github.com/modz2014/7zip-plugin.git
  3. Copy the plugin files to the 7-Zip plugins directory:

    • The typical path for the plugins directory is C:\Program Files\7-Zip\Formats. Place the files in this directory.

Usage

After installation, you can unpack a PyInstaller archive directly through the 7-Zip file manager:

  1. Open the 7-Zip File Manager.
  2. Navigate to the directory containing your PyInstaller archive.
  3. Right-click on the archive file (e.g., example.exe or example.zip).
  4. Select the "UnpackPyInstaller" option from the context menu to extract the files.
