Releasing LTS

What's different

LTS releases are different from regular releases:

• They are branched from the previous version branch (e.g. 3.20 LTS is branched from 3.19)
• They are maintained for a full year
• Micros are released every two months (and not every week)
• Special care is required for backporting decisions (backport meetings + bake time rule)

Preparing the LTS

Once the next LTS version has been defined:

• Schedule all the versions until the LTS
• Write a blog post announcing the next LTS
• Register the new LTS in the Conversational Release Action (and make sure to update it if plans change)
