1. Continue simplifying code …

   * Move some overrides to their base class
   
   * Simplify method, add comments

   * Ensure `_closeReason` is not null
   
   * Remove or address TODOs
   
   * Revert to calling `AbortAsync` in `Dispose` for connections and channels
