Would it be possible to have an option somewhere to mute the Find/Replace dialog? Sometimes I have to make many replaces in large files and the consecutive ding sound after every replace is really annoying not only for me, but for everybody else in the room.

Hello @B3PO-Abimator ,
OK, let's see what is possible. 🤔

But as a workaround, I can suggest you set to "None" the "Exclamation" sound.

Yeah, I can mute the notebook I'm working on as well. I just don't think Notepad3 needs an exclamation following every search/replace. ;)

Yes, i agree with you ! 👍
In fact, I never noticed this sound because the speakers of my PC are off by default. 😉

I dont have issue with that, because of sounds disabled, but out of curiosity - is it M$Windows, Notepad3 or Notepad2 legacy which causes this?

Please test beta version _5.19.425.1673_develop (see beta-channel access #1129).
See new menu entry: Settings -> Mute Message Beeps.

Awesome. Thanks so much, works perfectly in the Replace Text dialog.

I'm thinking about a better name for it, as it does not mute ALL the message beeps. For example, closing Notepad3 without saving a changed file still beeps (and it should beep) while pops up the warning.

@xixero : Notepad2/3 uses two kinds of Message-Boxes:

  1. One based on systems MessageBox() functionality, which produces a message beep, which can't be switched off (programatically).
  2. A 2nd one, which is a custom dialog with full control on message beep (the one with the "don't show again" option).

For the upcoming version of Notepad3, I decided to use the second one as much as possible (hiding the "don't show again" option where not applicable).
A few system MessageBox()s are left: the help message for RegExpr, Transf. Backslash and Wildcard, and the message on exit Notepad3 hosting a changed file (unsaved changes).

Please test beta version _5.19.429.1681_develop (see beta-channel access #1129).
This version resets the [Suppressed Messages] settings
(if settings file version is none or "1" -(needed for new InfoBox() behavior).

Hello @B3PO-Abimator ,
As far as I'm concerned, I think you (as requester) can close this issue...
