If I have http://majutsushi.github.io/tagbar/ open, DWM considers it a normal window and will move it into the stacked pane etc. I would like to have tagbar ignored and anchored on the left, and DWM to operate in the space remaining. Is this possible?

That's a pretty tough one. We would need to be able to support ignoring tagged windows and hope for tagbar to tag its window.
Unfortunately I don't have any cycle for this right now but maybe you might want to tackle that or anyone else?

I can't tackle it right now, I am new to Vim and still learning the basics, so my chances of pulling this off are slim seeing as you say it is a tough one! :)

The same problem exists with NerdTree and any other similar plugin. What works reasonably well is if you toggle these plugins on and off only when you need them.

there are so many toggled windows by other plugins, that's quite annoying.

I hope you are able to fix it. thanks!
