There's a small typo that leads to an incorrect line in /etc/hosts. Instead of 127.0.1.1 it should be 127.0.0.1 that the cartodb.localhost domain points to.

127.0.1.1 is valid for Debian/Ubuntu based operating systems.
Which OS are you using which made the resolving of cartodb.localhost not work?

I am using macOS 10.12.6 with Docker version 17.09.0-ce, build afdb6d4. Should I just add a note about the differences then?

A note would be nice, we should be careful not to break the hosts file.
