Here is the migration guide for major version upgrade:

From 2.1.6 to 2.2.0

[Swift] Please upgrade CocoaPods to 1.0.0 or later (sudo gem install cocoapods)

From 2.1.5 to 2.1.6

would suggest when compiling to use flag to ignore tests. The tests requires extra dependencies and the compilation might fail due to that.
